Have you encountered a spine-chilling moment wherein you suddenly realize that you have just forgotten your Android mobile phone in a mall or in a café? If yes, then you must have also suddenly experienced faster heart beats! Well, a majority of Android users have faced this situation. The risk of losing or theft is always high with a portable technology device. That said, an Android mobile phone is certainly not an exception. Portability is associated with the risk of loss. Keeping this in mind, it is a clever notion to be proactive and plan well in advance for tracking your misplaced Android mobile.
It is true that a few Android users are so dependent on their mobiles that their breathing gets uncanny just by the thought of losing them. Luckily, there are some quick and simple ways to track a lost Android mobile phone. Most of them will make you use some great apps, a few of which comes at rescue even if you have never installed them before the phone was found to be missing.
Inform the service provider and mobile provider
When your Android phone is lost or stolen, it is recommended to first call up your service provider and your mobile operator to know about any tracking facilities. You can use the IMEI number of your phone and put it on a global site that is capable of tracking phones. You will get the information regarding the sites from the providers who can also suggest you some Android tracking apps.
Send a message on how to get in touch with you
If the mobile is not stolen, it is wise to send a message stating how to contact you so that someone who sees the phone can get in touch with you instantly to give back your phone.Furthermore, you can also announce a money prize, which will even work for the robbers!
Find GPS location through apps
There are two kinds of apps that help in finding GPS location: Those that you have already installed for fetching the GPS location before the phone gets lost and those that you can install and use after the phone gets lost. The latter ones are more useful which help to locate a missing phone by choosing one of them from the Android market and installing it remotely on the lost phone through the Android market account. One of these apps is Plan B by Lookout Labs, which is very famous. All you have to do is install this app on the lost phone remotely and obtain the GPS location instantly on your Gmail account. Alternatively, you can text the keyword ‘locate’ from another mobile to your Android number. Above all, this is a free app.
However, if you want to take some proactive steps before your phone gets lost;consider installing a mobile monitoring app such as Mobile Spy, FlexiSpy or StealthGenie. These apps update the GPS location of your phone every half an hour to your online account on the app’s official site. You can even install some tracking apps from the Android Market such as Where’s My Droid that can volume up the ringer to make your phone ring loudly and fetch the GPS coordinates on Google maps.
In addition to these apps, you might want to increase the protection through an antivirus package such as AVG that allows locking the phone remotely and aids in finding it using Google Maps and Lookout Security with identical services plus tracking through Internet.
These simple ways surely aid you in tracking your missing phone before you register a complaint with the police!
